WHY WE CHOOSE AUSTRALIAN MERINO WOOL

Grown on Australian farms where sheep consume water, air, sunshine and grass. When a wool fibre is disposed of, it will naturally decompose in soil in a matter of years, slowly releasing valuable nutrients back into the earth.
Every year Australian sheep produce a new fleece, making Merino wool a completely renewable fibre. Think of shearing a sheep like having your hair cut, it grows back time after time, year after year.
An important one for our dogs! Merino wool absorbs odour molecules and only releases them upon washing. One of the most breathable fibres, it can absorb large quantities of moisture vapour then move it away to evaporate into the air.
Merino wool is six times stronger than cotton. Each fibre can be bent back onto itself over 20,000 times. In comparison, cotton breaks after 3,200 times. It is like a coiled spring that returns to its natural shape after being bent, giving it a natural resistance to wrinkles. Merino's up to the challenge of a bit of rough play.
Merino reacts to changes in body temperature to help regulate heat by trapping warmth from the body when it is cold outside, and drawing heat away from the body when it is hot. Keeping your dog warm when it’s cold, and cool when the heat rises. Many synthetic fibres can regulate temperature, but not in the natural way of Merino.

Dogs love the softness of Merino wool due to its natural comfort, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties. Merino wool's extremely fine fibres are incredibly gentle on even the most sensitive skin, providing a cosy and warm texture that dogs find soothing.
Merino wool fibres have a natural protective outer layer that helps prevent stains from being absorbed. And because it tends not to generate static, it attracts less dust and lint. All of our Merino wool products can be machine washed, making them super easy-care.
Merino wool absorbs UV radiation providing inherent protection from the sun. It’s evolved over millions of years to protect sheep against the elements, and now protects your dog too.
Wool is also one of the most sought after recycled textiles for converting into new long-lasting products. As a part of our sustainability initiatives, we return production offcuts of our Black Cockatoo range back to the mill for recycling into yarn, which then creates new fabrics and products.
